Explaination of Vietnam flag

Our tour guide took us on an interesting tour…not quite what we expected. We had the chance to see things from a different perspective. Heard again about Bac Ho (Uncle Ho or the Ho). This was the presidential palace when the US armed forces were there in the 70’s. Our guide explains to us the meaning of their flag. I love the people there however I am sure glad I was born in the USA.

Uncle Ho in Vietnam

Uncle Ho in Vietnam

When Steve and I went out to see the city of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) we were taken to this historical main Post Office. The tour guides are very proud of their heritage with Ho Chi Minh, or as they call him ‘Bac Ho’ which means Uncle Ho. He is the one that they credit for their ‘peoples revolution’. Now as an American I am prone to just shortening the name, like a nickname right? So from that point on he was affectionately known to me as the Ho.

A Sea of Scooters

Steve Ostermiller and I had an incredible experience in Vietnam. Everywhere we went it was a lesson in a culture adapting to new economic prosperity. Here we were in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) where in the area of about Salt Lake City you have 8 Million people…but even more interesting you have 3.9 Million scooters! Cheap transportation as they are about equivilant to $300 USD.

Everybody sings along with the Synergy band

Mark Comer hosted a great party with Synergy Worldwide. He had Matt Harding and his band come and play. Everybody had a lot of fun singing and listening. Some really had their MoJo workin’ and others…well you’ll see…it was a tremendous amount of fun with Cold Stone ice cream and Smart Cookies. Thanks Mark!

2009 Ireland Mission reunion

Every year for 30 years now we have had a reunion of the missionaries that served in the Ireland Dublin mission from 76-79 under the direction of President Marvin and Sister Kirksel Pugh. They are both 98 (President will be soon and his wife already is) and have been able to bless us with their presence at these events every year. It is always an honor and pleasure to meet with them and my fellow missionaries from that time in my life. I love them all.

Mormonaires Irish Missionaries

When I was on my mission in Ireland in 1977-1979 we had 4 missionaries that performed at the opera house each week for a while. Two of those missionaries, Elders Defreese and Mills, were at the reunion tonight (8/8/09) and at the request of our mission president, Marvin Pugh, they gave us an impromtu song. These guys are good sports about it and just went ahead, after not seeing each other for 30 years, and sang for us.

Golf Tourney Highlights

This was a smashing success! This tournament raised $40,000 for the 5 Star Legacy Foundation, a foundation that raises money for orphaned children and needy children. This is the 2nd time I have participated in this event. I look forward to taking a much more active role in serving in this foundation this next year. I hope you consider doing the same. I invite you to do the same. Will you?

Vietnam leader welcomes us (in Vietnamese)

Everyone we met in Vietnam was excited to have Synergy Worldwide coming to their country. I did not understand what he was saying but you do not need a translation to know he is excited to become a part of Synergy Worldwide.

Vietnam leader invites everyone to make money with Synergy

On our arrival to Vietnam we had some friends pick us up who were excited about the Synergy opportunity. These people are the most sincere and motivated people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It is exciting that the Synergy opportunity is so global.
