Bone Nutrition

Posted by admin On July - 31 - 2009

Bone nutrition is essential to a happy, healthy life. Your body consists of 206 living bones that continually undergo a buildup, breakdown process called remodeling. Eating right is essential to having strong and healthy bones. The body starts to form most of its bone mass before puberty, so those adolescent years are crucial to healthy bone development.  Once your bones are developed they need to be maintained, because gradually, with age, the breakdown outpaces the buildup, and in late middle age bone density lessens when needed calcium is withdrawn from bone for such tasks as blood clotting and muscle contractions, including beating by the heart. Living in a way, and eating in a way, that support the skeleton are essential habits to establish for any who does not want to suffer from bone breakdown (osteoporosis). It is and is especially for females or those with a thin, small-boned frame. Proper diet, exercise, and avoiding bone risks and lifestyle choices that are bad for bone, like smoking are habits that should be established early. However, it is never too late to start.

One thing that is important to recognize is that you can improve your bones through proper diet and nutrition. The main mineral in bones is calcium, one of whose functions is to add strength and stiffness to bones, which they need to support the body. Once puberty is over your body has a harder time utilizing and retaining calcium. Eating foods that are rich in calcium is essential, but they also need to be rich in calcium that is bio-available to the body. Often times people try to fight bone loss with calcium pills or supplements. The problem with this is that the body can not utilize all forms of calcium the same way, and many times those expensive calcium supplements result in nothing more than expensive urine being flushed down the toilet. Thus, it is essential to not just get calcium, but get it from the right source.

One of the ways to increase the usability of the calcium you intake is to get more vitamin D. Bones needs vitamin D to move calcium from the intestine to the bloodstream and into bone. Vitamin D is something that should be supplemented if you like in areas with few sunlight hours. You can get vitamin D from short, normal day-to-day exposure of your arms and legs to sun and from foods fortified with the vitamin.

Bones also need vitamin A, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc, as well as protein for the growing of bone scaffold. As you can see, the bones in your body require a lot of vitamins and nutrients to stay healthy, and that is why proper nutrition is so critically linked to bone health. Many people that worry about bone loss are not sure how to properly obtain all of the necessary nutrients needed, and do not want to deal with the hassle of trying to eat as many, and enough of all the different foods required to get the optimum and most bio-available amounts of needed nutrients.

One simple way to prevent bone loss is to drink a calcium source that also provides you with the other essential vitamins and nutrients your body needs to process the calcium obtained. Milk is often the recommended product for such results, but is not the best option as it may cause other problems while fixing this one. So, how can you easily get your calcium and other essential nutrients? Well, there is a drinkable product called NutriMor which is a nutritional health powder mix that is made from the nutrient rich plant, Moringa. This is an excellent option for getting the right calcium intake as gram for gram the leaves of the Moringa tree contain 4 times the calcium found in milk, 3 times the potassium of bananas, 4 times the vitamin A of carrots, and 7 times the vitamin C of oranges, as well as many other vitamins, amino acids, and nutrients your body needs. So for proper bone nutrition without the hassle and worry of always eating enough vegetables, fruits, etc. try the refreshing and healthy NutriMor.

Blood Sugar and Nutrition

Posted by admin On July - 26 - 2009

The body must maintain blood sugar levels within a narrow range, otherwise problems occur. For example, if the blood sugar level falls too low, energy supply to all tissues, particularly the brain, is impaired; and if blood sugar levels rise too high this is very damaging to arteries and the long term effect of arterial disease is heart disease and strokes. So clearly keeping your blood sugar levels where they ought to be is important.

So, how can you control your blood sugar levels? The answer is through proper nutrition. The liver is the part of your body that controls blood sugar levels. It makes the sugar from energy stores inside the liver and releases sugar into the blood stream minute by minute in a carefully regulated way based on the body demands which may fluctuate from minute to minute. This system of control works perfectly until it is upset by us eating the wrong thing. So what is the wrong thing? Well, for starters, eating excessive amounts of sugar at one meal, or excessive refined carbohydrate, which is rapidly digested into sugar can suddenly overwhelm the liver’s normal control of blood sugar levels.

Those who exercise daily and regularly can get away with more sugar in their diets without blood sugar issues because the excessive sugar in the blood is quickly burned off by vigorous exercise. However, for most us now days, we eat large amounts of sugar and refined carbohydrate and do not exercise enough to burn off this excessive sugar. The body therefore has to cope with this excessive sugar load by other mechanisms.

High blood sugar is extremely damaging to arteries, so the body fights back with insulin, and converts the sugars into fat. The problem is that often times insulin converts too much sugar into fat and then the blood sugar levels in our bodies get too low. Low blood sugar is also dangerous to the body because the energy supplied to all tissues is impaired. Low blood sugar is called hypoglycemia. Most people try to make up for low blood sugar by eating sugar, then they overdo it and send themselves on and up and down cycle of blood sugar.

Symptoms of hypoglycemia are many, and vary; the brain symptoms include difficulty thinking clearly, feeling spaced out and dizzy, poor word finding ability, foggy brain and sometimes even blurred vision or tinnitus. The body symptoms include suddenly feeling very weak and lethargic, feeling faint and slightly shaky, rumbling tummy and a craving for sweet things. The sufferer may look as if they are about to faint (and indeed often do) and have to sit down and rest. The symptoms can be quickly alleviated by eating something sweet – if nothing is done then the sufferer gradually recovers.

What causes  hypoglycemia? For most people it is missing a meal or a snack and overdoing it with vigorous exercise, stress, or alcohol.

So what can you do about it?

You need to avoid all foods containing sugar and refined carbohydrate. However, even if you do this, it may take weeks, and possible months for the liver to regain full control of blood sugar and therefore the symptoms might still exist even while you avoid sugar and refined carbohydrate. When you change your diet you will get withdrawal symptoms and it may take many weeks of a correct diet before these symptoms resolve.

Also, it is important to realize that problems such as hypoglycemia are usually accompanied by micronutrient deficiencies. Chromium, for example, is a common deficiency. So, combat the likelihood blood sugar problems with nutrition. Make sure you are getting enough of the nutrients (vitamins) and micronutrients (minerals) that your body needs. One fast and easy to ensure each day that you get what your body needs in the way of nutrition is to drink one scoop of NutriMor in liquid daily. NutriMor contains a whole host of vitamins and minerals your body needs including, Vitamins A, B, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, D, E, K, Folic Acid, Biotin, the minerals Calcium, Chloride, Chromium, Copper, Flourine, Iton, Manganese, Magnesium, Molybedenum, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Selenium, Sulfur and Zinc. NutriMor also contains all eight essential amino acids, along with ten additional ones, and much, much more! With over 90 vitamins, minerals and other nutrients including anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories, NutriMor is an excellent way to find the nutrition needed to combat high and low blood sugar!

Here is the last one in this short series of prospecting, that is exposing others to the message and following up with them. Here is a simple way to invite people to join you and let the magic happen.

Anti-aging

Posted by admin On July - 24 - 2009

Aging occurs in everybody. It is inevitable that as we grow older we age, however, this does not mean that as we get older we have to feel, look, and respond like we are older. Our bodies do not have to break down as quickly as they do. In fact, many of the outwards signs of growing old can be slowed – and life may even be prolonged – by maintaining a sensible approach to diet.

In order to slow down the aging process take the following five steps and implement them in your daily life:

1. Consume a balanced Diet

2. Drink more water and fluids

3. Eat regularly and all day long

4. Reduce intake of fats, processed foods, etc.

5. Exercise

Let’s take a closer look at these five steps, and how to easily implement them into your life without making any drastic changes to your current lifestyle.

First is to have a diet that is balanced. Along with this, it is important to also include plenty of fiber in your diet. This means eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, pastas, rice, etc. You should eat plenty of these each day, and complement them with proteins. When it comes to aging, it is important to note that, while protein deficiency plays a role in the development of osteoporosis, too much protein can also promote bone loss. So it is imperative to get the correct amount of protein from the right sources. For example, the proteins found in the Moringa tree and its usable parts (leaves, pods, etc.) are going to be better for you than the proteins found in a chicken breast. The proteins in the Moringa tree are more bioavaible, and therefore more beneficial to your body. The best source of Moringa is the great tasting NutriMor by Synergy Worldwide. A healthy, balanced diet will help you maintain a healthy body composition and weight and provide you with the nutrients for optimal health and functioning.

Drinking plenty of water and fluids is very important, and very few people drink enough fluids each day to help their bodies ward off aging too quickly. Because our bodies consist of so much water, it makes sense that water is our life force. If it is your life force, why do so many people neglect to drink enough each day? Dehydration causes many symptoms of poor health, including headaches, achy joints, lack of energy, lethargy, etc. All of these symptoms can be directly linked to not enough fluids in the body. Every tissue and cell as well as every organ and system in your body requires water to function properly. Degeneration associated with aging occurs more rapidly in people who are not properly hydrated. So, if hydrating yourself is something you struggle with try carrying something small and handy, such as NutriMor mixed in a bottle of water, with you wherever you go. It is convenient, all natural, and provides you with hydration, as well as providing you with other essential nutrients and vitamins. Do not try and hydrate yourself with sodas or other drinks that are high in artificial ingredients and sugars.

While it may not seem like eating regularly and all day long will ward off aging too quickly, it can. By consuming five small meals and snacks throughout the day you are less prone to binge eating, and having too high of a caloric intake. If you eat regularly you gain less weight, and you increase your metabolism. Your metabolism, the rate at which you burn calories for internal functions, can be compared to an engine, in that the more often you give it fuel, the better it works. If you starve your body for periods of time, your metabolism slows down, and a slowed metabolism makes it much more difficult to lose weight and much easier to gain weight.  However this does not mean you should snack all day on foods that are unhealthy and that do not have a high nutritional value. Snacking throughout the day on potato chips and pastries will not do your body in more good than starving it. Make sure to pack healthy snacks like an apple, banana, or an orange. These require no refrigeration etc. and are a great option for a quick pick me up.

Reducing fat intake is extremely crucial to anti-aging. Dietary fat is very easily converted to body fat, so controlling your fat intake means more control over the weight gain associated with ageing. Obvious foods to avoid include fried foods, creams which are very high in fat content, and processed foods such as cakes and cookies and most precooked entrees. This will probably be the biggest lifestyle change for many, but it does not have to be a difficult adjustment. When you feel the urge for something sweet, or processed, go for wholesome, fresh foods first. Eat an apple before you eat a candy bar, and you may not want the candy bar any more. Fresh foods, especially foods that are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, etc. These foods should be the staples in your diet. Processed foods do not have to be eliminated, rather they should only complement a diet that is rich in fresh fruits, vegetables and whole wheat grains. Look for foods that are rich in nutrients, and rather than fill up on “empty” junk foods, eat foods that give your body what it needs.

Last but not least is exercise. Time is the biggest excuse for not exercising. So, if this is your excuse, incorporate forms of exercise into your existing daily routine. For example, if you live on a second or third floor, rather than take the elevator or walk the stairs, try jogging up the stairs. If you are vacuuming a room, do lunges as you push the vacuum across the floor. As you carry in groceries, use the weight of the bags as free weights and do a few curls. You do not have to go out to the gym to increase the amount of exercise your body gets daily.
