The impact of antioxidants on the body
Staying healthy is a difficult thing for many people to do. Our lives are very demanding and there are so many things that just have to get done every day that there is sometimes no time left to think about doing what is best for our bodies. Antioxidants can do many different things for the body and there are also many ways they can help improve health. Here is some more information about the impact of antioxidants on the body.
An antioxidant is basically a molecule that slows down the process of oxidation in the body and in other cells. Oxidation is the process by which cells and molecules degrade by giving off electrons that are lost in chemical reactions. These free electrons that become loose because of oxidation are known as free radicals. They are not attached to any cell or molecule in particular and can do a great deal of damage to cells and to the body in general. The body can handle some free radicals by absorbing them whenever possible but there are times when they can get out of control and the body is unable to deal with all of them on its own. Free radicals can start chain reactions inside the body that can damage tissue and are blamed for many illnesses and other problems that people have. Antioxidants are important because they combat free radicals and help the body deal more efficiently with them. They terminate the chain reactions that can be caused by free radicals by absorbing the extra electrons and keeping other oxidation processes from beginning. Oxidation is necessary for life but can be damaging and this is why many plants and animals have developed complex processes to control them.
Antioxidants are either water or lipid soluble and can be absorbed into the body in various ways. Many people say that the darker the color of the food, the better it is for you. This is true in some cases because antioxidant rich foods are usually dark, green, leafy vegetables and other foods and vegetables are also rich in antioxidants. Some of the most common and most important antioxidants are vitamins that are familiar to most people. Some of the most common are Ascorbic acid (also known as Vitamin C), Glutathione, Lipoic acid, and Uric acid. Ascorbic Acid or vitamin C is found in many different fruits and vegetables and is most commonly known to be abundant in citrus fruits like oranges and lemons. It is important to us because it can’t be made by humans in the body and so has to be taken in through the diet. It is a reducing agent and can help stop and inhibit the chain reactions that are caused by free radicals. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that is water soluble and can be absorbed easily through the stomach. Melatonin is another important antioxidant that is useful in the blood and brain. It is referred to as a terminal (or suicidal) antioxidant because it cannot be reduced or oxidized further when it has reacted with free radicals. Vitamin E is also a common antioxidant and is soluble in lipids (fats) in the body. It is said to be the most important fat soluble antioxidant and protects cell membranes from reacting with free radicals. Antioxidants are very important to help the body fight off disease and other health problems.

How to harness the power of nitric oxide.
Nitric oxide is a chemical name that is getting a lot of recognition in the health and fitness world today. Nitric oxide is a very important chemical compound in the body and helps with many different bodily functions. Here is some more information about nitric oxide and what you can do to harness its energy.
Nitric oxide is also known as nitrogen monoxide and is represented by the chemical formula NO. It is a very important chemical compound and is a gas that is very important in signaling in the bodies of mammals, specifically humans. It is also very important in the chemical industry and can also be an air pollutant produced by cars and power plants. It is important as a messenger molecule in the body because it is involved in many physiological and pathological processes in the body. It is essential to have proper levels of NO in the body at all times. Some people confuse nitric oxide (NO) with nitrous oxide (N2O), which is used in anesthesia and sometimes with nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which is a poisonous pollutant. Nitric oxide has been very important in recent years and in scientific studies of various kinds. It was even named the molecule of the year in 1992.
Nitric oxide has recently gained a lot of popularity and hype as a supplement for different types of people. One of the biggest groups that are using nitric oxide is bodybuilders. There are claims that this supplement can help build muscles faster and stronger than when not using a supplement. Many health stores market supplements with nitric oxide in them targeted specifically towards bodybuilders. NO is produced in the body by cells and production is very important to proper blood flow. Because it is so important in blood flow, improper levels or production of NO can damage or adversely affect the circulatory system in humans. NO is produced from the amino acid L-Arginine which is becoming more and more familiar on the health and nutrition circuit as well.
In 1998 the Nobel Prize in medicine was awarded for the discoveries about the NO and L-Arginine connection and their relationship with the vascular system. Some of the ways that NO directly affects the circulatory system follow. It is involved with direct vasodilation, in which the flow and dependant receptors are mediated, as well as in indirect vasodilation by limiting vasoconstrictor influences. It also inhibits platelet adhesion and leukocyte adhesion to veins and arteries; it can also inhibit unwanted smooth muscle actions such as hyperplasia. Some diseases and conditions that are associated with low NO production levels include hypertension, obesity, dyslipidemias, diabetes (both type I and type II), heart failure, atherosclerosis and aging.
NO really doesn’t have many direct uses but is produced on a mass scale for making nitric acid from ammonia. This is particularly useful in the industry of the semiconductor and is also used for making CMOS devices.
No matter what you want to do with NO in your body, make sure that you understand what the implications and possible benefits and pitfalls of taking any supplement are. Making healthy choices is very important and can help you live a better and longer life too. Whatever choice you do make, be certain that it is best for you and that you have consulted with a licensed medical professional before you begin any supplement regime or other related program.

Essential fatty acids
Eating healthy foods is something that many people are concerned about these days. People want to live healthier lives and improving one’s diet is one of the best ways to get healthy. But the last thing that many people would think about when they are trying to lose weight or to get healthy is probably going to be fat. In fact it’s one of the things they are probably going to try and eliminate from their diet. Research has shown that the body needs fats to stay alive and that fats help facilitate many of the body’s essential functions. The key to living a healthier life may not be to eliminate fat from the diet or to restrict it as much as possible but rather to make sure that the fats that are taken in are the best kinds – essential fatty acids.
Essential fatty acids are fats that the body absolutely needs to perform properly and to keep you in top health condition. Essential fatty acids, sometimes known as EFA’s, are fatty acids that cannot be made within the body from other parts or by any chemical process that is known in the body. They have to be obtained from the diet and so we have to look to what foods can provide these essential fats. There are basically two different families of EFA’s – Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. The research that has lead to the discovery of their importance is relatively new and fresh. Fats from both families are essential and the body can convert one form of omega 3 to another omega 3 to use in a different form. Fatty acids were originally though to be a vitamin and named vitamin F but now they have been classified with the fats rather than with vitamins. Both families of fats are very important in the functioning of the body and their interactions with each other are also very important. The fats can be modified in the body to create other fats that can affect inflammation and other functions on the cellular level, mood and behavior and even interacting with medicines like aspirin to downregulate inflammation. They are also very important in the transmission and proper copying of DNA and ensuring that these processes are done properly.
Fatty acids are basically a straight chain of hydrocarbons with a carboxyl group at one end of it. They are different lengths and the 3 and 6 in their names designate the first double carbon-carbon bond happens after the 3rd CH3 molecule. They qualify as unsaturated fats (which some people recently believed were even worse than saturated fats). There are some familiar names that people have probably heard of advertised in vitamin supplements or that are included in some foods. A-Linolenic acid and Linoleic acid are the two most commonly recognizable essential fatty acids for most people. They are of note because they cannot be synthesized by the processes in the human body so they have to be acquired from the body.
Many people are touting the health benefits of essential fatty acids and they are very important to heart and blood health. Unsaturated fats are most known for their ability to improve cholesterol levels in the blood and body cells. High cholesterol has become a very common health problem and many people are concerned about it. Unsaturated fats allow the body to keep more good cholesterol (which is more efficient in moving different nutrients around the body) than bad cholesterol in the blood stream. High (bad) cholesterol levels are associated with heart disease, clogged veins and arteries and many other health problems. Essential fatty acids provide much more good cholesterol than bad and help regulate and balance out the levels in the body.
Eric Glenn is the owner of several global health businesses and advises many clients and individual consumers about health, nutrition and creating a global business. He recommends health supplements that include essential fatty acids to help boost your immune system. Using supplements to boost your health
The use of supplements to boost health is something that people have been doing for many thousands of years. Nowadays, we have medical proof that attests to the fact that a variety of different supplements provide benefits. There are very few areas of personal health for which a supplement has not been created for. The challenge for most people is deciding what areas of health are most important to them and then finding the health supplement that best addresses those health issues. For many individuals a health supplement called L-Arginine is the answer to their most important health concerns.
Boost your immune system
The immune system is a magnificent system. It consists of organs, bone marrow, cells, antibodies and chemicals, as well as the nutrients that help nourish and generate them. The immune system wards of the things that could potentially make us sick. The stronger our immune system is, the better we are able to ward off illnesses and the better we feel. You have probably heard of all of the hype surrounding health supplements that fight off the common cold or maybe even the flu. While there is certainly a demand for supplements that can keep us from feeling under the weather, wouldn?t you also want to take a supplement that could potentially prevent some of the more traumatic illnesses? L-Arginine is just such a supplement. L-Arginine will provide immune system benefits that range from simply feeling better from day to say, to keeping the blood flow to the heart at a healthy level, thus helping to prevent a variety of cardiovascular problems. L-Arginine is so efficient in the fight against illnesses because it is an amino acid. More specifically, L-Arginine restores production of nitric oxide to the body, a key element in improving blood flow. When blood is able to flow more freely through the blood vessels, you feel more energetic because your heart does not have to work as hard to pump blood throughout the body.
Boost heart health
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in America. Keeping the heart healthy is essential to any type of health regimen. How much easier can it be to keep your heart healthy than to use an L-Arginine supplement?! L-Arginine is found naturally in the body but as we age and perhaps neglect our bodies, the L-Arginine levels decrease. By boosting those levels with a supplement you are simply helping your body to more efficiently do what it does on its own.
